I am currently accepting enthusiastic students of all ages and levels.

If you want to improve your flute playing and ace your next audition, performance, or simply enjoy playing the flute more, I can help you!

My Teaching Philosophy
I aim to help each student become a well-rounded musician with a thorough understanding of musical concepts that will enrich their experience of music long after their lessons. My goal is to empower each student to reach their highest potential as a flutist and musician, and to have fun in the process! My students develop musical problem-solving skills so that they can become their own best teachers. I love to explore all styles of music with my students, but every flute student must build a solid foundation in sound quality, breathing, technique, scales and foundational exercises. I strongly believe that with "patience, time, and intelligent work" (Trevor Wye), anyone can create beautiful music!

Spokane Flute Lessons
In flute lessons, you will:
  • Receive specialized, one-on-one instruction that is tailored to your specific needs and goals
  • Learn proper flute technique, develop a beautiful tone, and improve your breath control
  • Learn HOW TO PRACTICE and skills to tackle any musical challenge with confidence!
  • Explore a wide variety of flute music (including solos, pieces for flute and piano, and ensemble music)
  • Become familiar with music theory and music history (with a focus on the flute's musical history)
  • Perform in studio recitals, and practice performing for your peers in the flute studio
  • Develop skills to cope with those pesky nerves and performance anxiety
  • Collaborate with other flute students in duets, trios, and quartets
  • Take part in your local music community
  • Participate in fun flute studio parties and group classes
  • Gain a more complete understanding of music that will increase your enjoyment of the flute both as a player and as a listener

My background and training are in "classical" flute performance. However, the basic skills you will gain from private study, such as technique, tone, and theory, are transferable to all styles of music.
