About Colleen
Colleen McElroy holds the Piccolo/Second Flute chair in the Spokane Symphony, Second Flute/Piccolo with the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, and is the Adjunct Flute Instructor at Gonzaga University in Spokane.
A passionate teacher, Colleen has been teaching flute to students of all ages and levels for over ten years, and currently maintains a thriving private studio at her home in Spokane. She particularly enjoys working with beginners and pre-band students. Colleen’s students develop a beautiful tone, strong technique and rhythmic skills, and confidence in their playing.
Colleen was a member of Emissary Quartet from 2015-2022, a chamber ensemble dedicated to commissioning and performing new works for four flutes. The ensemble has presented recitals and workshops across the US, including for the National Flute Association, Princeton University, the University of Washington, and the Mid-Atlantic Flute Association.
Colleen holds degrees in Flute Performance from the University of Washington and Boston University. Her teachers include Linda Toote, Donna Shin, Zart Dombourian-Eby, and Iris Ingram.
